Linesmith is a free browser game. You don’t need an account, there are no ads, and the game sets no cookies. This page lists everything the game keeps and sends, and why.
Kept on your device
The game saves these in your browser’s storage. They stay on your device and are never sent anywhere.
- Your progress: which cities you’ve cleared, your best number of riders carried in each, and a picture of each city’s best run for its card on the world map.
- A run you leave part way, so you can continue it.
- Whether you’ve finished the guided steps, and how many times each tip has shown (so they stop).
- Your settings: sound and music, the 12- or 24-hour clock, and colour-blind-friendly line colours.
- A copy of the game’s files, so it opens quickly and works offline.
Clearing your browser’s site data for this site deletes all of it.
Sent anywhere
The game sends nothing on its own: no scores, no play data, no identifiers. It sends a report only when you press Send, on the Feedback page or on the message shown if the game breaks. A report holds:
- What you wrote, if anything.
- A picture of the city as you see it (on Feedback you can untick this).
- The run’s state: the game’s version, the city, the day, the map’s seed, your lines and score, and any error the game hit.
- Your screen size, whether you use touch or a mouse, and your browser’s name and version.
Reports go through the game’s server on Cloudflare to a private Discord channel that only the developer reads. They carry no name or account; don’t write personal details in them.
Two services also see the ordinary requests any website makes when you open it:
- Cloudflare hosts the site and keeps standard server logs of requests (such as IP address and browser) under its own policy.
- Google Fonts serves the game’s typeface, so your browser asks Google for it.
Coming later
Player names and leaderboards are planned. When they arrive, this page will say exactly what they send before they go live.
